Tottenham Not Interested in Signing Gennaro Gattuso
Jun. 18, 2021
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs has made it clear that they are not interested in signing Gennaro Gattuso as their new manager.
The decision was made after his agent Jorge Mendes met Tottenham’s board who were not convinced of his performance at the club.
“After opening meeting with Jorge Mendes, Tottenham told Gattuso they’re not interested in appointing him. It’s never been a done deal, just an interview with the current frontrunner… as many others made by Spurs this summer. Fans reaction, key for the decision.” Said Fabrizio.
The news comes hours after Tottenham canceled a deal to sign former AS Roma coach Paulo Fonseca due to tax issues.
Although the contract had been drawn, the Premier League side found that Paulo Fonseca had tax advantages due to Italian laws which are not applicable in the UK. They were therefore unable to cover the additional cost.
“Paulo Fonseca to Tottenham is 100% OFF. Deal collapsed because of taxes issues despite contract already completed and set to be signed – Fonseca had tax advantages from an Italian law which is not applicable in the UK.
Tottenham are NOT intentioned to cover the economic difference on fiscal side with Fonseca – he was set to sign after contract verbally agreed, it was done… but talks have now broken down.” Said Fabrizio Romano.
Gattuso had already been appointed Fiorentina’s coach after quitting Napoli but he canceled his contract following a disagreement on player transfers.
It is alleged that Fiorentina opted to go for cheap players in the market something that former Napoli coach and his agent Jorge Mendes were against.
